Cannibal Crossing Review
Along this journey, you will encounter cannibals, bandits, and beasts as well as other survivors. As you build and enhance your arsenal of weapons, you'll face increasingly large numbers of enemies. As you can understand from the name, this game is Animal Crossing, but bloodier. Control tabs and game mechanics are highly similar. It is also going to be super familiar to you if you played Dead Road to Canada.
- Fun to play with friends
- Room for creativity
- Variety in enemies
- Only one co-op mode
- Boss mechanics feel repetitive
Gameplay Elements
Play with Your Friends and Help Others | Co-Op
In cooperative Horde Mode, you can get by with some help from your friends. Quick tip, run slightly faster so they are being eaten by cannibals instead of you. Other survivors will follow you around, assist you in building improvements, and be permanently unlocked as playable character characters.
Open-world
Earlsboro will have a new layout each time you play. This means that you will need to adapt to the changes in order to find what you are looking for. Find special encounters and unique buildings, along with places to fortify to provide temporary safety.
Character Customization
Each of the 10 characters has its own unique traits, special abilities, equipment and playstyles. Each character has its own unlockable class, which allows for more ways to play.
Build Your Base
There are many places around Earlsboro where you can create safety and security with a fortified basis. Install turrets, walls and other defences. You can then place structures to support your team like Ammo Presses, Smelters and Luck Shrines.
Massive groups can descend on your base with just a few warnings. Run fast and grab your big guns. You may also need to call in help from the base defences. Sometimes, stealth and quick reflexes are enough to turn the tide and take on the enemy's base.
Enemies and Big Bosses
The entire town has been transformed into mutant cannibals and other vile things. Fight, flee or fight your enemies. If you need to find refuge, hide in buildings that can be barricaded. You can use firearms, explosive traps or melee weapons, as well as fire and sniping to take on large groups.
Get closer to the escape from the town by defeating special boss monsters. Keep in mind that every boss killed will make the future bosses even more powerful.
Is Cannibal Crossing Worth Playing?
You will find that the game is very enjoyable to play the first few games. Although the mechanics are sometimes bothering you, the fun is all you need. You can play the game every time with little to no changes. Combat is great, you can upgrade, and so on. However, boss fights are always found in exactly the same spots. It's nice to discover them the first time but the element of surprise disappears.
