Concord Review
Concord is a first-person perspective FPS, action, and shooter game that offers players a 5vs5 PvP experience. In the game, you need to choose one of the characters with different health points, weapons, abilities, and appearances and use this character to kill the players of the opposing team. Although the aiming system of the game is stable, the mechanics that form the basis of FPS games, such as weapon recoil and spray, are insufficient. The differences between the weapons and health points of the characters prevent you from establishing a stable plan but also prevent your opponents from killing you quickly.
Since the game is new, character, ability, and weapon balances are not provided, and while some characters are extraordinarily strong, others are unpleasant to play without the support of another teammate. In addition, since the tempo of the game feels terribly slow compared to its counterpart games such as Overwatch, you may get bored while searching for your opponents or advancing on the map. Even the ranged combat of the game, which offers a close combat battle royale experience called Naraka: Bladepoint, is faster than Concord. If you are looking for fast-paced and fluid gameplay, Concord may not be for you.
The Story of Concord
Concord presents a story where heroes fight from the Northstar spaceship's 16 crew members, called Freegunners. The game is set in a science fiction universe and follows the journey of interstellar mercenaries. Although we don't know much about the game's story yet, story missions and lore content will be added regularly with each new update.
Concord Gameplay Mechanics
Concord is a PvP-focused game that offers players a first-person shooter experience. The aim of the game is to complete the tasks assigned by the game using different characters and their weapons and abilities in teams of 5 players. Concord offers players the traditional movement scheme and ability usage mechanics.
In Concord, each character has at least 2, usually three different abilities. One of these abilities includes a dash, jump, or roll mechanic that you will use to increase the character's mobility. Although some characters are more agile than others, they feel slow compared to other FPS games. Moreover, in a game that feels so slow and takes long seconds to aim, playing with even slower characters like 1-Off turns into sheer torture. When all the mobility, slow aiming process and insufficient mobility of the game come together, we can say that characters that can fire quickly and have more health points than others are stronger than tactical characters.
Concord Characters
Concord offers players 16 different characters with different abilities and weapons, and their tactical usage varies. Concord offers the following playable characters:
- 1-Off: A former recycling robot, 1-Off has a vacuum gun that can absorb enemy bullets and use them defensively or offensively.
- Bazz: A scout who throws knives and specializes in melee attacks.
- Daw: A support character who shoots with a burst rifle and takes on the role of a medic on the battlefield and aims to protect his teammates.
- DaVeers: A chemist with poisonous weapons that cover the area where they are thrown.
- Duchess: A mystical character who can cast spells that increase the damage taken by enemies or create energy walls that can stop the enemy's bullets.
- Emari: A support-tank character who can stop enemy attacks and create protective shields for herself and her teammates
- Haymar: An offensive character who uses a legendary flame-hand crossbow, creates small explosions where she fires and can deal area damage, can stop enemy bullets with a firewall and can temporarily stun enemies.
- It-Z: An agile character who can use enemy attacks to her advantage and teleport to different locations for short distances.
- Jabali: A flexible character who can use his own attacks to heal his teammates or use them to damage enemies. (Ana from Ow2! Is that you?)
- Kyps: A spy who specializes in stealth, has traps and the ability to reveal enemy locations, specializing in infiltrating the back lines of enemies and searching for their weaknesses.
- Lark: A strategy character who can open teleportation portals and has seeds that buff teammates and debuff opponents.
- Lennox: An offensive character who focuses solely on fighting and dealing damage, equipped with two pistols that can throw explosive knives and have different types of shots.
- Roka: An offensive character who deals area damage with equipment that can reach long distances and a rocket launcher. (Pharah?!)
- Star Child: A character who uses a shotgun and has a skill kit suitable for breaking through enemy lines and distracting enemies.
- Teo: A character designed for players who rely on aiming battles, equipped with smoke grenades, explosive grenades, and an assault rifle.
- Vale: A sniper with a long-barreled sniper rifle and abilities that increase mobility such as grappling hooks.
Although all the characters of the game are taken from popular and frequently used main characters of different games, it is possible to say that most of the characters are similar to the heroes in the Overwatch. In this respect, we can say that the game is not original and does not offer original gameplay mechanics and character ability designs.
Concord Graphics
Concord offers players colourful and animated graphics, bright and clear colour palettes, unrealistic animations, and map and character designs. The game's graphic structure and colour palette selection reflect the game's theme: supernatural and futuristic armed conflict. Although the game's map designs reflect the theme of space and different planets, we cannot ignore the existence of games such as The First Descendant, which can convey this theme with better gameplay mechanics and graphics. Nevertheless, Concord is a game that can offer players 4K graphic quality and offers animations with smooth transitions.
Is Concord Worth Trying?
In today's FPS game world, where all FPS games try to be free and offer elements such as battle passes, costumes and weapon skins for a fee, Concord is a choice that you will take at your own risk with the gameplay mechanics and insufficient mobility it offers. If you like slow-paced FPS games and want to explore different maps and characters in the space
